THREE DETAINED FOR ILLEGAL DRUG ACTIVITIES​

On 5 September 2020, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raided two separate locations in Kampong Jerudong. At the first raid, NCB arrested a 22-year-old local man while at the second location, one local female and one male permanent resident aged 25 and 23 years respectively.


Seizures during the arrest at the first crime scene were two rolled-up paper and a compressed block containing dried leaves believed to be Cannabis, Class A controlled drug, weighing more than 900 grams with an estimated value of more than BND$14,000.00. Other seized items included a car, a digital weighing scale, and a mobile phone believed to be used for drug activities. Search at the second crime scene found several plastic packets containing dried leaves believed to be Cannabis weighing more than 35 grams with an estimated value of more than BND$500.00, a mobile phone, and cash believed to be proceeds from drug trafficking amounting to BND$451.00.

Investigations into this case are ongoing under various sections of the Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA), Chapter 27:

  • Two (2) suspects under Section 3A of MDA, Chapter 27 for the possession for the purpose of trafficking of a Class A controlled drug;
  • All suspects under Section 6(b) of MDA, Chapter 27 for the consumption of controlled drugs;
  • One (1) suspect under Section 10 of MDA, Chapter 27 for abetment and attempts of abetment of offences under the MDA, Chapter 27.

 

NCB wishes to remind the public it will not hesitate to take firm action on any drug trafficking and drug abuse activities.  NCB would also like to remind on the dangers of drug traffickers who are the cause of damage of harmony in society and the nation. They are the enemies of the country who take advantage of the weaknesses of individuals to make a profit without considering the effects of destruction on families and society.
